Lauren A. Burke, Esq (she/her) is passionate about using her privilege to catalyze the work of system-impacted founders as a steadfast believer in Glenn Martin’s words “Those closest to the problem are the closest to the solution, but furthest from resources and power.” Fluent in Mandarin, Lauren’s built legal departments at Domestic Violence organizations, developed and taught clinics for law schools, and co-founded and grew the nonprofit Atlas: DIY, a cooperative center for immigrant youth and their allies in Brooklyn, NY. In the wake of the 2016 U.S. Presidential election, Lauren moved into a van to provide free immigration legal services and Know Your Rights training to immigrant communities throughout rural America. In 2020 Lauren co-founded Camp Equity, connecting over 250+ young people to learn about grassroots movements from proximate leaders. During this time, Lauren taught courses on aspirational allyship for white-identifying families and conceptualized the publication of “My Social Justice Dictionary: 150+ Words for Young Changemakers.” Lauren now uses her lessons to support lived-experience leaders through her consulting agency, The Possible LAB, and runs her first for-profit venture, Notehouse, CRM software for social workers, case managers, and everyone who takes notes on humans. Lauren has worked in-residence as an advisor with the JM Kaplan Foundation, Smith College, NYU School of Law, Movement for Family Powr, and Echoing Green, where she was a global fellow. Lauren now lives in the woods of Western MA with her partner and two kids.
